(More customer reviews)This is the unit I have but if this is an indication than the bigger ones aren't going to do much better. I thought long and hard about this purchase and even returned a few other options without opening them.I wanted this unit to power my Apple 15" PowerBook for tethered day long camera shooting.The puck style cable was attractive since I wouldhang the battery from a tripod and have uninterrupted power working with a camera tethered to the laptop.
The preformance is pretty disappointing.My most recent test was running a movie and this external lasted 101 minutes with the Mac running highest preformance..That's just a little better than an OEM Apple battery costing $129 or cheaper on ebay.I picked this up at Costco so I didn't pay $229 MSRP more like $179.Probably worth $79 for performance but the design is good so $20 for that too.
As for support I misplaced the power relay which allows virtually any supplied computer AC cord to plug into the MFuel Battery to charge.Without it's just a paper wieght.MFuel support wanted $39.95 just for this part.That would have been a quarter of what I paid for the whole set.A cool company might have comp'd a replacement or maybe asked $20.A bit steep that's all i"m saying.
Cool product well thought out but the battery life just isn't there unless your running a tiny Sony Vaio on low performance. The Apple may be a power hog but there's better deals on regular batteries.Maybe would run a PS Portable for the time advertised but not much more.
Personally, I don't think any of these external battery packs are worth the money.The preformance is so hyped it's just ...dishonest!
